What’s the difference between slingbacks, pumps, and mules?

Question by So Simple: What’s the difference between slingbacks, pumps, and mules?
I’m trying to figure out what the difference is between slingbacks, pumps, and mules, which are all types of women’s heels, but no one seems to know…I don’t even know what makes a shoe a “slingback” or a “mule” so HELP!!

Slingback – open heel with strap around ankle
Pump – heel closed in
Mule – heel open with no strap

    Slingbacks are where the strap circles the back of your ankle but leaves your heel open.

    Pumps are just the classic high-heeled shoe with usually a pointed toe and closed back.

    Mules are just open-backed, closed toe slides and can come in high or low heels.
